DESCRIPTION:Please join us\, along with our gracious hosts Scott and KarolAnne Wayland\, for a special Brooks BBQ Cook-Out. Seasoned chefs will be firing up their grills cooking a variety of meats and seafood while guests enjoy great food\, good company\, and a meaningful cause.\n\nBring a cooler\, comfortable chairs\, or a blanket\, and come ready to treat your taste buds to a juicy culinary experience. Side dishes to share are warmly welcomed.\n\n\n	Suggested donation: $25\n	Children 12 and under: free\n\n\nAbout Grillin' for a Cause\n\nGrillin' for a Cause began in 2006 as part of the Brooks BBQ Cook-Off\, when the participating chefs chose to donate the 50/50 raffle proceeds to someone in the community who needed support. What started as a friendly competition has grown into an annual fundraiser that has helped local charities including CASA\, Hospice Support of Fauquier\, and Matthew's Center as well as individuals in our community facing serious need.\n\nSupporting Alex West\n\nFollowing a routine breast exam at the end of January\, our beautiful goddaughter\, Alex West\, was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma. After a subsequent MRI and biopsy\, she received a diagnosis of Stage 4 oligometastatic breast cancer on February 26.\n\nAll admission donations and raffle proceeds from this year's event will go directly to support Alex West and help offset the significant medical costs associated with her treatment.\n\nA Little About Alex\n\nOn July 26\, 2025 one day before her 30th birthday Alex's boyfriend of six years\, Tanner Roberts\, proposed. She said yes\, and they set their wedding date for October 31 of this year. Then\, in the middle of planning their wedding\, everything changed.\n\nBecause Alex's cancer is aggressive\, she and Tanner postponed their wedding so she could focus on treatment. She quickly froze her eggs\, began chemotherapy and radiation\, and this month will undergo a double mastectomy before continuing her care.\n\nThe costs of Alex's medical care are substantial\, and your support can make a meaningful difference.
