Transportation Sector Efforts to Combat Human Trafficking: The Power of Public-Private Partnerships
On January 25, 2023, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Department of Transportation, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security will host Transportation Sector Efforts to Combat Human Trafficking: The Power of Public-Private Partnerships. This event will highlight the role that businesses can play in preventing human trafficking and feature a discussion of best practices by top experts from the private sector, non-governmental organizations, and federal, state, and local entities.
Human traffickers use airways, roadways, railways, and waterways to facilitate the trafficking of victims for commercial sex and forced labor. Transportation personnel can act as the first line of defense in stopping human trafficking as they are in a unique position to recognize and report the crime. Public-private partnerships are essential to combat this heinous crime.
