Local elections are the foundation of participatory democracy and serve as an essential mechanism for us to participate in the shaping our future community. On November 7th, we exercise our right to choose from a number of candidates vying for positions across Fauquier addressing an ever growing number of issues that will affect us all.
Despite having a direct say in how our communities are governed, knowing who the candidates are as well as all the issues can be daunting. To help overcome this, the Fauquier Chamber of Commerce has invited each of the State Senate and House of Delegates Candidates and their Campaigns to Warrenton to interact with the voting pubic and speak directly on their positions on the issues affecting Fauquier. Campaigns that have confirm attendance include:
- Jason Ford - State Senate District 28
- Elizabeth Melson - State Senate District 28
- Juan Pablo Segura - State Senate District 31
- Geary Higgins - House of Delegates District 30
- Rob Banse - House of Delegates District 30
- Michael Webert - House of Delegates District 61
- Larry Jackson - House of Delegates District 61
Candidates will be stationed around the room in a casual and welcoming setting letting the voters meet and hear from who they wish at their own discretion. Candidates will be given the opportunity to address the crowd for no more than 5 minutes with no question and answer session.
Not sure who represents you? We will be welcoming guests and afford them the opportunity to look up their candidates and for those that want to know ahead of the events, they can visit www.fauquierchamber.org/2023-elections for information on not only the candidates but district maps and polling locations as well.
By participating in these local elections, you contribute to the vibrancy and effectiveness of our local government and collectively work towards building stronger, more vibrant Fauquier. We hope you will join us.
