Assessor

Fauquier County is seeking an Assessor to perform real estate assessment and reassessment work on real property. This position combines technical assessment work, field work, data review and interaction with the public.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assessing new construction, real property changes and revaluations during reassessment
• Conducting field work and site visits to verify property data and determine correct assessments
• Reviewing real estate data for errors, inconsistencies and completeness
• Verifying information on deeds and recorded plats
• Assisting with property values and statistical analysis
• Responding to public and governmental inquiries regarding real estate matters
• Participating in the appeals process and serving as a professional witness when necessary and assigned
• Conducting appraisals and assessments using International Association of Assessing Officers standards
• Assisting with training new real estate employees

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Two years of related work experience in realty or commercial assessment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
