Aging Access Support Driver
Rapp at Home seeks a caring driver who will be responsible for driving a wheel-chair accessible passenger vehicle to transport older adults to a variety of locations within a two-hour radius. Duties include maintaining a clean vehicle, reporting mechanical issues, following traffic rules and regulations, and providing excellent customer service and person-centered support to passengers.
The driver will be expected to be a professional who is responsible for safely transporting passengers to medical appointments, critical errands, and social activities primarily in Culpeper and Fauquier.
Rapp at Home can offer at least 8 hours per week on a Monday or Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Depending on need, it could be up to 24 hours per week from time to time when our other driver is not available.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills:
- Willingness to complete PASS certification, RTC orientation, mental health first-aid, and dementia friendly trainings.
- Team player, supportive problem-solver.
- Flexible, dedicated, and excellent time management skills.
- Familiar with Rappahannock County and surrounding area.
- Lives within 30 minutes of Rappahannock County.
- Clean driving record with no accidents or violations
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
- Will be required to fill out a Rapp at Home Volunteer Application.
- Will be required to pass a background check.
- Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, evening hours including weekends.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good physical health and ability to lift heavy objects.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prior experience as a driver preferred.
- Experience working with older adults.
