Fauquier Chamber of Commerce Announces Organizational Changes, Welcomes New Operations Manager and Membership Growth

Fauquier County, VA – 12/17/2024 – The Fauquier Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a series of exciting organizational changes that reflect the continued growth and evolution of the Chamber’s mission in the community.

New Operations Manager Benjamin Musser Joins the Team
As part of the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to supporting local businesses and fostering community engagement, the Chamber is thrilled to welcome Benjamin Musser as its new Operations Manager. A former associate broker with Century 21 New Millennium, and Chamber Board Member, Musser brings valuable experience from his leadership in the Chamber, including serving as chair of the Young Professionals Council. Musser begins his first full week in the role this month and expressed his enthusiasm about this new chapter. “I’m beyond thrilled to step into this role, as the Chamber has long held a special place in my heart. From starting with the Young Professionals Council, to serving on the Board of Directors, and now as the Operations Manager, the Chamber has been instrumental in shaping my growth--both professionally and personally. I feel truly blessed to be a part of this organization.”

Musser’s transition from real estate to managing the operations of the Chamber represents a significant career shift, but one that aligns with his passion for supporting local businesses and strengthening community ties. “Ultimately, I love working with and supporting people, and our Chamber wouldn’t be the wonderful organization that it is if it wasn’t for people. Real estate involved critical and creative thinking, hard work, and an unwavering dedication to providing great service, and that is exactly what I intend to bring with me in my new role,” Musser added.

Laura Coates Pursues New Opportunity, Will Continue to Support the Chamber
Another key development in the Chamber’s evolution is the departure of Laura Coates, who has accepted a full-time role with Foxley Atelier in Old Town Warrenton. Coates, who was first hired by the Chamber in 2021 and played a critical role in driving the Chamber’s value and impact post COVID, has developed a passion for the arts and will now focus her energy on helping to run the pottery department at Foxley Atelier, where she will oversee studio management and assist with the growing business. Coates, however, remains deeply connected to the Chamber community. “After seeing firsthand the benefits of Chamber membership, it was a no-brainer to have Foxley Atelier join. I’m excited to stay connected with the Chamber and continue supporting local businesses,” Coates said.

Chamber Welcomes New Board Members
The Chamber is also pleased to announce the appointments of four new members to its Board of Directors. These members include David Couk with Integrity Home Mortgage Corporation, Caroline Wood with Laurel Ridge Community College, Renee Norden with the Mental Health Association of Fauquier County and Kenneth Johnson from Blossman Gas and Appliance who will serve out Musser’s term with the Board of Directors. Musser will be stepping down from his board position to focus on his new role as Operations Manager.

CEO Alec Burnett Reflects on Positive Changes
Alec Burnett, President & CEO of the Fauquier Chamber of Commerce, expressed excitement about the positive changes unfolding within the organization. “2025 will be exciting for the Fauquier business community and I am looking forward to introducing new programs, services and resources targeted exclusively at bringing value to both new and legacy businesses. Small business is critical to our community and in many ways defines us and I am proud to lead Fauquier’s only not for profit association that remains dedicated to strengthening the local economy by supporting businesses of all sizes, and building and fostering meaningful community connections,” said Burnett.
