Art Studio 81 Announces Warrenton Artist Kathleen Jaeger as July Visiting Artist

Public invited to a special "Meet the Artist" reception on Saturday, July 11th.

WARRENTON, VA — Art Studio 81 is delighted to announce mixed-media artist Kathleen Jaeger as its featured Visiting Artist for the month of July. To celebrate her residency, the studio will host a public "Meet the Artist" reception on Saturday, July 11, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Attendees will have the opportunity to view Jaeger’s vibrant collection, discuss her creative process, and experience her unique artistic journey.

Now a proud resident of Warrenton and an active member of both Studio 81 and the Warrenton Arts Commission, Jaeger’s lifelong dedication to the arts spans decades, geographies, and industries. Raised in a family that deeply valued and encouraged creative expression, she turned her early passion into a multi-faceted career as both an educator and an art therapist.

"My early education was centered in the church and has been a strong force throughout my life," says Jaeger. "Pursuing my degree in art education at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma further opened to me the world of creative thought and action. This focus continued at the University of Kansas as I studied for a career in education with special needs populations... Further work toward attaining certification as an Art Therapist merged these two specialties, and it is there I devoted most of my teaching career."

Following her retirement from public schools in 2004, Jaeger relocated to Hawaii, where her artistic career flourished for two decades. During her time on the islands, she served on the board of the Waimea Arts Council, judged numerous community art competitions, and served as President of the Kailua Village Artists cooperative for eight years. Her talent also earned her a prestigious, decade-long tenure as an artist-on-site at the Hualalai Four Seasons Resort.

Jaeger's recent move to Virginia marks the newest chapter in her evolving portfolio. "My latest relocation to Virginia has again stretched my mind to embrace the new, think in different ways, and find the next great path to even more joy and happiness," Jaeger shared. "Becoming a part of both Studio 81 and the Warrenton Arts Commission have added a layer of artistic involvement that feels like home."

About the Artwork

Jaeger works primarily in mosaic and acrylic painting, seamlessly shifting between the two to balance structured precision with spontaneous fluidity. Visitors to the July exhibition will notice how she alternates between these distinct mediums, often immersing herself in one for weeks or months at a time before transitioning to the other. Across all of her pieces, Jaeger’s signature style shines through—weaving together her love of color, nature, faith, and playfully whimsical imagery.
