F&M Bank Welcomes Bruce Lawson as Senior Vice President and Commercial Agriculture Lender
Warrenton, VA — F&M Bank is proud to announce the addition of Bruce Lawson as Senior Vice President and Commercial Agriculture Lender. In this role, Lawson will focus on expanding the bank’s presence east of the Blue Ridge, with a strong emphasis on supporting commercial agriculture and agribusiness clients.
Lawson brings more than 35 years of experience in sales and business development, including two decades specializing in lending to agricultural, forestry, and construction industries. His extensive background in developing new markets and deep understanding of the agricultural landscape position him as a valuable resource for clients across the region.
A Virginia native, Lawson grew up in Radford and graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics. Over the course of his career, he has worked with a wide range of agricultural operations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, building strong relationships and gaining a comprehensive perspective of the industry.
Lawson was drawn to F&M Bank by its strong community focus and commitment to agriculture. “I appreciate the rural, family-oriented culture at F&M and the bank’s dedication to supporting the communities it serves,” he said.
His passion for agriculture extends beyond his professional life. Lawson and his wife have lived in Central Virginia since 1999, where they raised two sons on their small farm. Together, they operate a horseback riding business offering lessons, camps, and occasional group trail rides, as well as a nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic riding opportunities for children with special needs. They also manage a small freezer beef operation.
Driven by a genuine interest in people and their stories, Lawson finds purpose in helping clients succeed. “I enjoy meeting interesting people who have found ways to be successful and am fascinated by their stories. I enjoy helping them along their journey,” he said. “Their success is what makes this work so rewarding.”
Lawson credits much of his professional philosophy to his father, who inspired his consultative approach to business. “He always told me, ‘Some people have good aim in life but never pull the trigger,’” Lawson shared. “He taught me to, ‘be open to learning new things, meeting news people, and taking new opportunities’.”
“Bruce’s experience and deep-rooted passion for agriculture make him an incredible addition to our team,” said Paul Eberly, Chief Lending Officer. “His ability to build relationships and understand the unique needs of our agricultural clients will play a key role in our continued growth.”
