Fauquier Education Foundation
Welcomes Students to its Board
High School Juniors to Serve Two-Year Terms in Advisory Capacity

Warrenton, VA—The Fauquier Education Foundation (FEF) was delighted to invite three high school juniors—one each from Fauquier, Kettle Run, and Liberty high schools—to join its Board of Directors in an advisory capacity. Adam Cheek (FHS), Julian Dorr (LHS), and Gabby Frye (KRHS) were recommended by their respective principals to serve two-year terms. The trio will attend several board meetings throughout the year and serve as ambassadors to the Foundation.
Adam is an avid percussionist, participating in marching band, steel pans, and indoor drumline at FHS. Outside of school, his activities and hobbies include Boy Scouts, working on his RC car, and playing games. After high school, Adam plans to attend college to study either mechanical or aerospace engineering.
Julian participates in both marching band and pep band, as well as wrestles and plays baseball for LHS, where he’s also active in NHS, NTHS, and TSA. Outside of school, he serves in his church, and enjoys hunting, fishing, exploring the outdoors, 3D modeling, and playing video games. After high school, Julian plans to attend college to study robotic engineering.
Gabby is a three-sport athlete, playing field hockey, basketball, and soccer for KRHS. She also enjoys playing flag football at school and hopes it will become an official sport there. After high school, Gabby plans to attend college to study forensic science.
All three students hope their participation on the board will bring fresh ideas to the Foundation for activities and fundraising, eventually leading to improvements within county schools. In addition, FEF anticipates having Southeastern Alternative School student representation on the board beginning in the 2026–27 school year.
Having high school students serve in this capacity provides invaluable, authentic perspectives directly from primary stakeholders—the students themselves—ensuring that FEF’s initiatives and strategic focus are truly relevant and impactful. This inclusion also fosters a sense of student ownership and civic engagement, develops their leadership and professional skills, and helps the board to better understand the contemporary challenges and aspirations of the learners they aim to support, ultimately making FEF's work more effective and well-received within the school community.
