Hunt Country Fall Classic – A Celebration of Youth Soccer in Virginia’s Hunt Country

This weekend, November 22nd-23rd, Warrenton and the greater Hunt Country region will once again play host to one of the premier youth soccer tournaments in the Mid-Atlantic—the Hunt Country Fall Classic. This two-day tournament has become a highlight of the fall season, drawing teams, families, and spectators from across the Mid-Atlantic.

Organized by Northern Piedmont Sports Club (NPSC) in partnership with Northern Virginia Soccer Club (NVSC), the Hunt Country Fall Classic is designed to offer travel soccer teams from U9 through U19 the chance to end their fall season on a high note. More than 330 teams are expected to participate this year, representing some of the region’s strongest programs while also welcoming newcomers looking to test themselves in a competitive but family-friendly environment.

A Tournament for All Levels
One of the hallmarks of the Fall Classic is its structure. Each team is guaranteed at least three matches, with multiple divisions offered within each age group. This ensures that whether a team is seeking the highest level of competition or simply wants a well-matched and enjoyable experience, the tournament can provide it. For younger players, the Fall Classic is often one of their first tastes of a true tournament environment. For older athletes, it can serve as valuable preparation for state cup play, high school competition, or even college recruitment opportunities.

Top-Tier Facilities Across the Region
Games are played on both natural grass and turf fields across Fauquier and Prince William Counties, making use of some of the area’s most beautiful and well-maintained venues. Fields include Athey Sports Complex, Valley View Park, George Hellwig Memorial Park, Howison Park, Long Park, Krieger Park, Catharpin Park, and several others. The wide distribution of fields allows for smooth scheduling, quality playing conditions, and the ability to host a large number of teams while still maintaining a local and welcoming feel.

More Than Just Soccer
The Fall Classic is about more than just the matches on the field. For families and visitors, it offers the opportunity to experience the charm of Virginia’s Hunt Country. Between games, teams and their supporters can explore Warrenton’s historic Main Street, sample local restaurants, shop in unique boutiques, and enjoy the scenic countryside. The event also provides a significant boost to the local economy, with hotels, shops, and eateries benefiting from the influx of guests during the tournament weekend.

A Community Effort
The success of the Hunt Country Fall Classic depends on the dedication of volunteers, referees, coaches, and staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Northern Piedmont Sports Club, deeply rooted in the Warrenton community, emphasizes values such as proactiveness, growth, learning, and passion—qualities reflected not only in the players but in the organization of the event itself. The partnership with Northern Virginia Soccer Club further enhances the tournament’s reach and reputation, ensuring that logistics, scheduling, and competition standards remain top-notch.

Why the Fall Classic Matters
For players, the Hunt Country Fall Classic represents the excitement of competition, the camaraderie of teammates, and the pride of representing their clubs on a larger stage. For parents and coaches, it is a chance to measure progress, connect with others in the soccer community, and enjoy a weekend immersed in the sport. For Warrenton and its neighbors, it is a boost to our local economy as more than 30,000 participants come into Warrenton and Western Prince William County and eat, shop, and explore the best of what the Hunt Country has to offer.

As the tournament continues to grow, it remains grounded in its original purpose: to provide a quality soccer experience that blends competition with community. Whether you are a player lacing up your cleats, a parent cheering from the sideline, a referee ensuring fair play, or a local resident welcoming visitors, the Hunt Country Fall Classic is an event that unites people through the love of the beautiful game.
