Art Studio 81 Hosts "Meet the Artist" Reception Featuring Painter Carol Vargas

WARRENTON, VA — Art Studio 81 invites the community to an exclusive "Meet the Artist" reception with painter Carol Vargas on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at its gallery in historic Old Town Warrenton. Attendees will have the opportunity to view Vargas’s latest collection, discuss her creative process, and enjoy light refreshments in an intimate studio setting.

Carol Vargas’s artistic journey began in childhood and matured into a lifelong dedication. She refined her craft while completing her undergraduate studies at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland, where she studied under renowned abstract painter and colorist Hilton Brown. Under his mentorship, Vargas mastered traditional techniques including tempera, fresco, line drawing, and gold leaf work, earning the prestigious Rosenberg Scholarship for two consecutive years.

She earned her Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, studying with acclaimed artists Ross Neher and Ted Kurahara. These formative years deepened her exploration of color theory, structural design, and visual abstraction. Throughout a distinguished career in higher education and association management, Vargas continuously applied her artistic vision to both creative and professional pursuits.

Working across watercolor, acrylic, oil, drawing, and sculpture, Vargas explores the space where observation, emotion, and abstraction intersect. Her current body of work draws inspiration from organic forms, landscape fragments, and natural elements, evolving toward refined clarity while retaining the dynamic energy and vivid color relationships that define her signature style.

"Exhibiting represents both an opportunity to share my work and an invitation for viewers to discover their own personal connections within each piece," says Vargas.
