Laurel Ridge SBDC Launches State Government Contracting Workshop Series

Middletown & Warrenton, VA — The Laurel Ridge Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is launching a new workshop series, Intro to State Government Contracting: eVA Registration & SWaM Certification Hands-on Lab, designed to help small businesses pursue contracting opportunities with the commonwealth of Virginia.

The series begins Wednesday, March 25, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m, at Laurel Ridge Community College’s Middletown Campus, with additional sessions scheduled throughout the remainder of the year, including April 22, at Laurel Ridge’s Fauquier Campus.

The hands-on workshops will be facilitated by Chris Ley, business services manager with the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity. She will provide practical instruction on navigating Virginia’s eVA procurement system and outline the advantages and application process for Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned (SWaM) certification. Participants will receive guided, step-by-step support to initiate eVA registration and begin the SWaM certification process, helping position their businesses for state contracting opportunities.

“Doing business with the commonwealth can create meaningful growth opportunities for small businesses,” said Andy Gyurisin, director of the Laurel Ridge SBDC. “This series is designed to simplify the process and provide practical guidance to help business owners take the next step.”

Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop and register in advance. You can find more information and view upcoming SBDC events and workshops here.
