Fauquier Education Foundation and FCPS School Nutrition Issue Second Round of Meal Debt Support Grants
More than $3,200 in Meal Debt Paid to Student Accounts
Warrenton, VA—The Fauquier Education Foundation (FEF) and Fauquier County Public Schools’ (FCPS) Nutrition Department are proud to continue their efforts to assist families experiencing financial hardship by helping to reduce outstanding student meal account balances.
During the second award cycle, the committee reviewed and approved assistance for 12 student applications, with a total award of $3,061.14 to families, covering approximately 94.9% of the debt submitted for assistance during this cycle.
Several families reported significant financial challenges, including medical emergencies, loss of income, unexpected household expenses, and delays in qualifying for meal benefits. The program provided critical support to ensure students could continue accessing nutritious school meals without additional financial burden on their families.
For the second award cycle, the assistance reduced outstanding meal debt by nearly 95% for participating families.
