Game On! Northern Piedmont Sports Club Elevates Youth Hoops with New Travel Basketball Program

 

WARRENTON, VA — September 8, 2026. The Northern Piedmont Sports Club (NPSC) is thrilled to announce a game-changing expansion to its youth sports lineup: the launch of a premier Travel Basketball Program for the Winter 2026–2027 season. This exciting milestone comes as NPSC joins forces as a founding member of the newly formed Northern Virginia Youth Basketball Alliance (NVYBA)—a groundbreaking initiative designed to bring top-tier competitive basketball to our region.

 

By uniting NPSC with regional powerhouses Gainesville Travel and the Eastern Prince William County Basketball Association, the Alliance creates a dynamic, highly structured league dedicated to developing young athletes. Operating as an independent organization, NVYBA delivers fierce competition across a balanced Northern Virginia footprint. As a leader in this movement, NPSC holds a key seat on the three-member Board of Directors and will serve as Vice Chair/Secretary for the inaugural season.

 

The action kicks off with competitive middle school divisions built to challenge and showcase local talent. NPSC is fielding teams across all five inaugural divisions:

 

  • Girls JV (6th/7th Grade)

  • Girls Varsity (7th/8th Grade)

  • Boys 6th Grade

  • Boys 7th Grade

  • Boys 8th Grade

 

The Alliance has secured top-tier, certified officials led by an independent college-level Officials Representative to ensure elite standards. Players will battle through an action-packed regular season with games rotating weekly across regional facilities, culminating in an electrifying, single-elimination postseason tournament where champions are crowned!

 

Key Dates & Registration Details:

  • September 15: Travel tryout registration opens online! Pro Tip: We strongly encourage registering for NPSC’s Recreational program alongside your Travel tryout to guarantee a spot on the court this season.

  • Week of October 12: Open evaluations begin for both Travel and Recreational players.

  • Week of October 26: Second round of Travel-specific tryouts (attendance at least one session is required to be selected).

  • Early November: Final Travel rosters announced

  • Week of November 16: Team practices officially hit the hardwood.
