The Artist Collective of Warrenton Launches Art Scavenger Hunt Across Old Town Warrenton and Fauquier County
A new weekend experience transforms historic streets and Piedmont countryside into a living gallery, offering a unique celebration of the local art culture.
WARRENTON, VA — The Artist Collective of Warrenton has officially launched its new Art Scavenger Hunt, an activity designed to connect residents and visitors alike with the vibrant creative culture of Fauquier County. Moving beyond the standard walking tour, this curated experience transforms the historic brick storefronts of Old Town Warrenton and the rolling landscape of Virginia’s horse country into a collaborative, real-world art hunt.
The initiative invites passionate new art collectors, seasoned creators, and weekend travelers to slow down and view the region through an artist's eyes. By focusing on subtle artistry hidden in plain sight, the hunt offers an immersive digital detox—replacing screen time and noisy restaurants with a playful, built-in mission that naturally connects groups through shared discovery.
"Art is for everyone; you don’t need to be a professional artist to be part of this community," says the collective. "The focus is always on the experience, the conversation, and the shared joy of creating and discovering together."
How the Adventure Works
Participants can easily organize their self-guided expedition using a simple four-step itinerary:
-
Gather a Crew: Ideal for unique country day trips, family weekend outings, or friendly team competitions.
-
Pick Up the Map: Participants begin at Art Studio 81 (located at 81 Main Street, utilizing the side entrance off 4th Street behind the purple door) to collect their printed map. The Old Town portion features six distinct art checkpoints and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to comfortably explore.
-
Explore the Countryside: The hunt transitions from the historic old town center into the scenic Piedmont countryside. Participants will wind past historic stone walls and pristine horse farms to visit local artist studios, spot hidden landmarks, and snap creative/selfies photos along the scenic byways.
-
Finish at the Purple Door: The hunt concludes back at Art Studio 81, where participants can cross the finish line, claim a special prize, browse local art for sale, and view the gallery's latest exhibition.
